Kenyan National Lottery

Lotteries in Kenya are growing rapidly, with a number of games available both online and offline offering millions of shillings in prizes each week. While there is currently no 'Kenya National Lottery' available in the country, a number of other games are available.

The more popular Lotto game takes place every Wednesday and Saturday, with thousands of winners being created in each draw. Draws take place at approximately 8:00pm and results are available online and on TV for every draw. There are also a number of smaller jackpot games with more frequent draws.

Kenyan residents are also able to take part in exciting international lottery games, such as the U.S Powerball and Mega Millions games, EuroMillions, Eurojackpot and many more through online concierge and betting websites.

Playing through these sites offers a number of benefits, as any entries are safely stored in your account and you are notified of any wins. At Jackpot.com, you place your bets by selecting your chosen numbers for a particular game, pay for your entries and then simply wait for the draw to take place. After your chosen draw has taken place and results are verified, you will be notified of any wins. As the prizes offered match those of the official lottery you have bet on, you can win the same prizes as if you had purchased a physical ticket!

Online Lottery Winners

Thousands of players win prizes each week through online concierge and betting websites, and Kenya is no exception. A government worker scooped an incredible $50,000 when playing the U.S Powerball game through theLotter, after hearing about the $1.6 billion jackpot that was won by three ticket holders in January 2016. The lucky Kenyan winner of the $50,000 prize matched the winning numbers to scoop his prize after playing the same set of numbers that he had done previously.

Kenya's First National Lottery

In June 2019, the Kenyan National Assembly began to consider The Gaming Bill 2019, which could replace the existing 1966 Betting, Lotteries and Gaming Act. Aside from introducing a new regulatory authority, the bill would also see the first National Lottery launched in Kenya. Using a similar format to other countries, the operator for the National Lottery would be selected through an "open and competitive bidding process", with a seven year licence to operate being awarded.

Should the bill be approved, the distribution of revenue for the lottery would be as follows:
